  1. yea they are just cars that are impounded from crack dealers and dui people that dont pay to get them back so rather than hang on to them and waste space in the impond lots, they sell them. cheap too because nobody would want a 2003 BMW if someone was possibly murdered in it or something crazy like that lol
  2. Yes. you can get some good deals - however, most people already have the upper hand on the auctions - so "the public" part is kind of misleading. Stick with ebay - you could attend a public or "government car auction" but rest assured there are some heavy hitters there who own used car dealerships just waiting to snatch up 2, 3 or maybe more cars. That's where used cars come from alot of times. If you're lucky to get into the auction you could get a great deal - but don't be surprised if you get outbidded. I know used dealership owners who send people there to "bid" on cars for them - its big business....and usually these cars have not undergone thorough testing - so be careful!! And you bid without getting to drive it - its like "blind bidding" (even more dangerous!)
  3. Yes, it's possible to get good deals but the catch is that there are other people there looking for good deals too, and they are bidding against you. You can get lucky and find a car that doesn't have any other bidders. See the following article for more details: http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carauctions.htm .
  4. These government auctions are some what of a scam. There no more real than getting a car for free online. The ideal is to get your information and send you some crap and other offers that you did not ask for. Even if you buy a Government list like they have on TV. They want you to pay a large amount for the list which you may never get. Now on the bright side of things, you can get a newer car like a 1990, 2005, 06, or 07 for like $1,000, $2 grand or not that much at all - at an police auction, because I have. How this works is, people that get booted for not paying their tickets, they car goes to the pound in tell the pay off the tickets to get their car back. Not if they don't come up with the money in time, the car will be put in the next auction. They get like two to weeks to pay plus their daily pound fee which is like 25 or 50 bucks. Depending on how much they own on their new car that got booted. If they can't pay, then their car is put in the police auction for the public to bid on. The money goes to the city and the pound. The people of the auction give you all the paper work needed to make this car your own. These police auctions are not promoted because they don't want car dealer coming in biding on the cars and reselling them. So go to your local police station or court and ask when and where. I hope this helped.... PS. check out my site at www.cherthis.com where I help to protect you from scams.
  5. thos auctions are a scam
  6. You can find all the auctions in your area plus some government auctions at AuctionZip. It is free. You should NEVER pay for auction info. Auctioneers work hard to reach as many bidders as possible and those who try to sell you that type of info are ripping you off.
  7. these cars sold as is wrere was no warranty some have no keys some may have internal damage check what type title you get most will have recovered title or shariff sale title which you need to change or live with hard to sell type title hard to wash in most states so you nned buy cheap
  8. While getting good buys at government auctions is quite possible, paying $2,000 for an '03 BMW isn't something you can expect. It's very likely this vehicle has a salvaged title. Savings at auctions are more typically in the 10% to 40% range depending on demand.
