principles of marketing?

I just need some help on this question please Your company is considering targeting the federal government since that strategy could bring quite a bit of new business. List and describe three advantages and three disadvantages of working in a contract situation with the federal government. How would you advise your company leadership? Should they pursue government contracts? How would you justify your recommendation?

  1. It would matter what your company is dealing with. Advantages: large contracts/new leads with other companies Disadvantages: Costs are usually locked for long periods. If your costs rise, you may not be able to up your prices because your tied into a contract/ You also may have to follow government guidelines which are not feasible to your company. Pretty much a gloss over, but at least it gives you a start.
  2. I am a marketing teacher and I advise 100% of my students and clients --do NOT rely on ANY government bodies as consistent clients. they require RFPs, huge time leads, and payments are according their schedules; not your needs or invoices. While it is a fact that many businesses raise their price 2-5x to accommodate the HORRENDOUS waits, it is not usually worth it.
