If the government required all employers to verify all employees would the illegals self deport?
Oklahoma passed the "toughest anti-illegal immigration law", but it only requires companies who contract with public entities to verify the legal status of their employees. Example companies who contract with the federal, state, or city governments. If the law required all employers to verify the legal status would the illegals self deport. Please no racist answers. I am not racists, just worried about the long term effects of illegal immigrants on the economy.

- Yes. If you you make it impossible for an illegal to get work, they will go home.
- It's a good, common-sense idea, and it should be applied everywhere. The complaint that someone might be misidentified is no reason not to do it. That would be part of the way to begin to move illegals out, without mass deportations. "
- Yes, it would work, but all would have to do it.
- No, I do not believe that they would self-deport. They are simply going to migrate to another state that still exploits illegal immigrant labor.
- Yes it would and States and munincipalities ar starting to pass employer sanction laws and the Courts are upholding them. Unfortunately with the Obomination and the Hilde Beast running around shouting Si Si Puede and spouting their "path to citizenship" rhetoric No need to self deport. They will make them legal. it will be legal to hire them, Big business wins, Dimocraps win, illegals win, American citizens lose but still get to pay the bill as a consolation prize.
- Not until they stop getting checks and free benefits that is the only thing that will make them self deport.
- No employer can deport anyone...homeland security needs to be involved and work on deportation...the employer can only report an illegal immigrant :-)
- If only that were true., there may be some who would return, but remember there are a large number of them that do not work legal jobs at all. The ones we want out of here the worst are the criminal element, they cause more problems then the illegal workers. Yes I want them all out but without our government becoming strong on this issue it will not happen
- We'll see on March 1 when Arizona starts to really crack down.
- Quite a few employers ignore the government so I don't think it would help.
- Arizona has already started, and it appears to be working. Deport illegals, and keep the dream alive.
- Many illegals would self-deport if the Federal Govt required all employers to check the SS numbers of their employees. However, criminal illegals, and those on the public dole would still remain. Also, those illegals who work off the books would remain. Such a measure would big a big help, and it may just happen. Some idiot, liberal judge, stopped the federal govt from doing this last December, because it could do harm to legal employees. He is so full of Sh*t! Very few legal residences of our country would be harmed, and the good this program would do for our country is immense.
- It's working. Look at Arizona! There were more request for property tax waivers going back into Mexico than ever before after they passed their latest hiring practice legislation. Simply put, if a company cannot get away with hiring them, they cannot work! Now work makes it impossible to live in the US
- Actually they do, and have been for YEARS. (at least since I got my first job at a pizza place in 1987) It is called Federal form I9. It is a 10,000.00 fine for each employee without a I9 form on file. I9 requires verification of eligibility. HB1804 refers to state entities and in addition to I9. It is geting the Feds to enforce I9 verification and subsequent fines that is difficult.
- Yes that would work for the most part. The only problem with that is that some of them don't actually work for employers. Some of them stand outside of places like Home Depot waiting for one of us to give them work on our own home improvement projects. A better thing that would help would be to make it illegal to rent a home or apartment to illegals. Every single one of them has to have a roof over their head after all.
- No, they probably wouldn't, just like requiring all cars to have insurance doesn't mean that all cars will have insurance.
- What choice would they have? They wold have to leave if they couldn't find employment.
