Can I remove my ebay item once it has bids? Is this even possible?

I have a item on ebay and i recieved a question that said that this lady wanted 2 purchase the item w/o going through the bidding process. Can I take my item off ebay once i have bids on it?

  1. Yes you can simply cancel it via your account control panel, it will ask for a reason, I usually select "item is no longer available" if it sells locally.
  2. Im not sure iof this is kosher, but you could just put a huuuuge bid on it that no one will top and then make informal arranngements with the buyer. The auction will time out by itself and you dont have to worry about inconveniencing anyone.
  3. Let me tell you about Ebay.... I used to do a lot of selling and buying.... then one day, I sent a package - three weeks later, the guy claimed he never received it. On ALL my sales, I had written clear instructions as to HOW I shipped - including the statement that DELIVERY CONFIRMATION IS OPTIONAL AND IS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE - I did NOT automatically buy it for anyone. WELL, because of this, according to Ebay, I did NOT have PROOF (a copy of the post office slip was not enough for them), so I had to refund the buyer!!! Like a fool, I stuck to my answer, and refused to give him the money - Ebay canceled my account - THEN, canceled my HUSBANDS account too, stating it was because we lived in the same house and they could not risk ME using his account!!!!!!! Needless to say, Ebay has RULES they make up as they go, and punish people for NOTHING. I would not TRUST Ebay at all - they answer to no one. The woman who asked to do the deal should NOT be trusted. There is a reason she wants to do it this way, and you should not do it. Just tell her she has to bid like everyone else, sorry, but it is not WORTH loosing your account over it. You CANNOT cancel an item LEGALLY once it has bids - - if you do, and the previous bidder wants to, they can get you CANCELED. Don't do it - you will be sorry.
