Ebay: Procedures to finalize and close a winning bid.?

Hi, I just sold an item on ebay. What steps do i need to take to finish all transactions with the buyer and then ship them their items. For example, should the first step be sending them a message thanking them, ask them if they have any questions regarding payment, shipping, and to inform them that i will send them an invoice, and thirdly processing payments through paypal or should i just send them an invoice and wait for payment. The thing is that i sold an item to a zero bid bidder, and he hasn't contacted me, and the closing bid was yestarday. I'm not rushing, but i want to be catious about the actions i take since i never used ebay. Thanks...

  1. Ebay has all the answers to your transaction in help menu. You send them an invoice, and upon their payment you ship the item. Then leave a feedback regarding the transaction.
  2. You have 3 days from the time the auction ends to send your buyer an invoice with the shipping charges listed on the invoice. You should have had your auction set up to take Pay Pal when you did your listing. If you didn't you won't be able to take Pay Pal for the payment. Man, I just do not know what to tell you. This is really backwards. You can send them a message, but the invoice is more important than anything else.
  3. It's a good idea to contact them through ebay to thank them for their purchase... most people have their ebay accounts set up to notify their personal email address when they have ebay messages. Let them know an invoice is on its way and that payment is expected within x number of days (whatever you specified in the listing). Make sure payment "clears" before sending the merchandise... sometimes payments can have a "pending" status, even through Paypal... so be sure to wait until the monies have cleared the buyers bank account.
