What type of government would result from social contract theory?

  1. If one strictly adhere to Hobbes it will result in a dictatorial/autocratic government, because Hobbes surrenders all of the rights of the people to the government (in his own words Leviathan). Under Locke we may find a bit more democratic form of government because under his conception of the Social Contract people retain some rights with themselves like their liberty rights etc. It is Rousseau's Social Contract that is truly or absolutely democratic since the people did not surrender any of their rights but it is their own COMMON WILL which makes them subject to the government...
