Should the government contract out the building of a wall on the southern border?

the contract would go to the lowest bidder (save some money)

  1. Sure the illegals who work construction here can do it. Great idea.
  2. absolutely -- whoever can get the job done
  3. Yes. Have the illegal aliens build it from the southern side.
  4. As long as it's built, i could care less who does it!
  5. Grab up those illegals and make them do it with adobe and stucco, they're good at that.
  6. The government always contracts out this work. Whether or not the bidding process is fair is another story. My guess: it'll go to Haliburton for 100 times what it should cost, and they'll pay undocumented immigrants 10 times less than what they should get to build it, for a nice 100x profit in the pockets of Dick Cheney and his buddies.
  7. Forget the Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California southern boarders, I say we make a treaty with Mexico to share our lands with the same constitution and laws and protect the southern border to Central America. Eventually we could have Mexico just like we got USA from the Native Americans
  8. Greetings. contract out the building of our own iron curtain along the Mexican border? no contracts are given out to the lowest bidder any longer. they all go to Halliburton or one of their subsiduaries that are still in America. Government here no longer allows bidding on contracts for any building or restoration, they all automatically go to Halliburton regardless of cost or ability to actually perform the project. Why do you think we should have our own iron curtain here? did not work for the Russians in Europe. Did not work for China with their Great Wall of China, why would it work here?
  9. By the time the wall is erected, it will be too late.
  10. Whatever they do, contracting or themselves, it is going to be with construction inmigrant workers (probably illegal). That is the cheapest way.
  11. Yes!!!!!!!!!!! I do not care who builds it just GET IT DONE!!!! I am not racist. I just think if everyone else from around the world come here and abide by our ways of government, so should they Hispanic population moving over the border should abide by the same ways. If they can"t then we should definitely BUILD THAT ****ING WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Save some money and actually get it built! Unfortunately our elected "representatives" in Washington have no intention of ever getting the wall constructed. It remains what it has always been...a scam to try to get voters to favor amnesty for illegals. McCain swore up and down that the wall would be built before the other provisions of the immigration bill would be put into effect. What a crock. It would have been immediately forgotten had the American people not stood up and said NO to turning the United States into little Mexico. And McCain knew it.
  13. No, it should not be built at all. It's a ridiculous idea and doesn't address the underlying economic reasons for illegal immigration. It would also disturb the ecology of the Southwest.
  14. Forget the wall/fence on the Southern Boarder. In three years only 38 miles has been put up of the 300 plus miles that are to be done. You're not going to get a good low bid on the job, government or private contractor. The contractors that can and will deal with the government contracts know what they have to do to get it and then turn around with added expenses to make up for the low bid. I spent a number of years in the Navy and saw just what takes places between the government and contractors that can get government contracts, nobody reports about money that's wasted. It's just a way to waste tax money, and try to get the American people to believe something is being done. There is another boarder that should also be looked at as a trouble spot for illegal entrance to the US, and that is Canada.
