if the united states constitution is a contract between our government and us citizens?

can we sue the united states government for breach of contract due to their mishandling of the united states and other countries over the past 6 and a half years?

  1. The US Constitution is not a contract between the people and the government. It is a list of natural rights; rights bestowed upon us by our Creator, or if you prefer rights given to us by nature simply for being born free people. Rights are not something handed out because the government is feeling generous; although they certainly act that way. I do not however think that the enemy combatants are entitled to constitutional rights. They are not US citizens or even legitimate combatants in a declared war. If you want to look for your rights being taken look to the Left. The Fairness Doctrine is an attempt to muzzle free speech and silence a political opposition. Clearly a violation of the 1st Amendment.
  2. First, a constitution is not a contract. We have different words for different things. Second, Your constitutionally elected government has managed to build this country into the number one economy in the world, the number one military force in the world, the number one technological power in the world, and all the while preserving your right to say stupid things about your government like it has been "mishandled" Third: in the past six and a half years (curiously exactly the amount of time G W Bush has been in office) your government has taken a poor economy with high taxes and high unemployment and turned it around. It has taken a underfunded military thanks to the "peace dividend" and fought a major world war without invoking conscription which by the way most other countries do just to maintain they're sovereignty. The Bush government has dealt with more disasters than any other president in history. So what exactly is your complaint?
  3. The constitution is not a contract. The government has sovereign immunity and cannot be sued without its consent. And "mishandling" is a relative term that means nothing.
