Is it time to renegotiate our contract with the US government?

If the Constitution is a contract between the people and the government, then is the government violating that contract more and more everyday? What should we do about it? Name one government official that looks as if he or she is of the people, for the people, or by the people.

  1. Name one government official that looks as if he or she is of the people, for the people, or by the people. That was Lincoln. But I think your on the right track! The government has been screwing the people since before it was a government! Money to start the government was never repaid. etc.
  2. That's what happens when we hire lawyers to represent us in Congress. We need different types of professionals in office, and not doctors and others who make $200,000 a year. If we want a true Democrat, then we need to elect someone who: 1. Did drugs at least once and admits it 2. Has been on food stamps or welfare sometime in his or her life. 3. Has a GED 4. Has voted in every election (shouldn't that be a requirement?) 5. Has transformed into what he or she is today by going to college on loans while working full time. 6. Declared bankruptcy, foreclosure, or repossession on their record.
  3. GREAT ? I think we have raped and pilaged the intent of the constitution. We hand out guns like they are candy, let off people due to offiliation, mix religion and gov. not to mention my main pet peave that there are four distinctions that need to be made in a country; that of religion, military, politics and money. We have made an art of throwing them all together and that is how our country has been run for a very long time. You should have seen Bush's face while he held hands in the middle east. I think he would have sooner slit his wrist. I have done my best to get a bit off the grid and honestly I so do not like this campaign, even when you think, "welll there is a person I could back" you get all the dirt. I SO WISH ANYONE WOULD JUST ADDRESS THE ISSUES, AND NOT PANDER TO PRESS OR SUCH. it is just depressing. The idea that we are allowing waterboarding and depriving people of freedoms based on..... well we do not know other than that they are different. Here is where I come out. Did we start rounding up all the Americans after OK or any other attack, no. It just makes me embarassed at some levels but please do understand, I do have faith, I am just worried the change may be on a level a France has seen recently or such.
  4. 100% agree with you. Except I think its past any negotiation. The treasonous and criminal activity must be stopped. I think a rope is a little too "Humane"
  5. the constitution is not a contract between the people and the government, it's a contract between the states. the federal government is the result of a contract, not party to it.(that's why we're the united states of america, not just "america") we should revolt. ron paul is the only government official i know of that values the constitution.
  6. I think that the framers of the Constitution underestimated the power that Corporations and special interests could employ to subvert this fine document. Its' up to us to rectify this unjust usurpation and soon, before it is too late.
