got a 2 month contract with government of canada, can it lead to an extension ?
So I got this 2 month contract position with the government of canada recently and I accepted it. It seems that permanent positions in the government are really nice, and so i was wondering if the government jobs these days lead to permanent positions or if they at least can be extended for like a year. Does this happen, or has the government taken a position of not hiring permanent staff because of the bad economy ?

- Contracts can be extended, but for a permament position you would have to go through the regular competitive process.
