Im a full time worker going to part time...?

Ok so im trying to make head and tails of all this. I was working 150 hours per month (my contract) and i am cutting it down to 112 hours per month. Me and my partner are expecting a baby in April, she is on Incapacity Benefit, around 5500 pounds a year. My income from my job will be 11500.00 a year. When the Government decide benefits do they take in to account tax and council tax because my income is over 16000.00 a year... So does anyone know what benefits i could be entitled to? ive phoned, ive emailed, ive wrote, ive had a look on the gov website but i keep getting different anwsers. Anyways they keep telling me to come back when the babys born but i want to get the forms ready so i dont have to worry. Thanks in advance of your answers :) so by jans logic i have to have a full time job and a second part time job. yeah, so i get next to nothing when im taxed more for working more. its not worth it really. and i am a hard worker and i am not not asking for a hand out. if i were i would quit my job, get a council flat, pretend to look for work, drink my wages and bring up another "briken britain" child. please think before you post an answer accusing me of scrounging. the majority have financial issues and i have a few, i want to spend time with my gf and baby plus bring in enough money. is that a crime?

  1. The only correct answer you will get is from the Benefits Agency. There will be lots of people on here who have experience of one part of the system but wont know all you want. The Benefits System is a nightmare to figure out and that is done deliberately by the Government to confuse us and put people off claiming. I would make an appointment to go along to your local office and ask them what and how much you will be able to claim. I believe the Incapacity Benefit will be stopped as there will be other benefits available and lots of them cant be claimed at the same time.
  2. wow...another brit looking for a handout....your first move is to find a better ft job ...your second move is to find another pt job.......stop begging...
  3. I would give the tax credits people a ring and find out exactly what you have to do , they will tell you what you will be entitled to and what you have to do next .
