I got this in an E-mail is it true, Did Howard say this? (I kind of doubt it.)?

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries </ B> of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society Learn the languag e!' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.' 'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. &nbs p; But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.' Um I am American and I really did get this in an E-Mail And I really would like to know how truthfull it is. I hope Howard said it. But I don't believe he did.

Public Comments

  1. Wow you sound almost american-what I really liked when we visited australia was that people were genuinely proud of their country and what is purchased there is made there. America had nothing left to be proud of. Be careful.
  2. Right on that's the way it should be in any country! In American we are over run by Appeasers.
  3. If he did say that, he is my hero. Australian immigration; here I come!!!
  4. I heard Howard had some beef like this, but I had no idea he could be that bold. Truthfully, I don't have a problem with it. In fact I have a problem with our own government when it comes to this issue. Grover Norquist made some idiotic remarks about how American Muslims were natural Republicans and when David Keane called him out on it, he flipped out. The GOP quickly swept this under the rug. You should check out Steve Emerson's reports on Dearborn Michigan. They've got the same problem England does with anti-western Imans in certain mosques. Although Howard lost, I still consider him a cut above most spineless politicians over here.
  5. According to snopes its true. I say good for him and wish our politicians had that kind of background.
  6. He said it and that's as far as it went.
  7. I believe he did say it, and its a shame he is not PM Now
  8. This email has been around for a while, and while there is elements of truth in it, it is not what you would call entirely 'true'. John Howard, FORMER Australian Prime Minister and several of his Ministers did make remarks of this kind, as part of an ongoing response to terrorism and the world political situation. The remarks in the email are an amalgam of comments made by Mr Howard, remarks made by some of his Ministers, and some editorialising on the part of the anonymous forwarders. If you read the Snopes article referred to elsewhere, you'll note that most of the email is contructed of a series of comments made on various occasions by several different people, and My Howard is not the originator of much of it. Without going into lengthy details of the political situation in Australia, I can just say that the situation with immigration is entirely different to that in the US. Interested people might also like to be aware that Australia is a hugely secular country, where comments about religious affiliations are not welcomed in the public debate about government policy. The attitudes expressed in this email helped create a climate which saw the party led by Howard voted out of office at the last election with the greatest loss of seats since the formation of this nation, including the the seat held by Mr Howard himself. His party is now in power nowhere in this country at Federal or State level. In fact, the highest office held by a member of Mr Howard's party in this country is the leadership of a nation wide association of university students. Without going into a lot of boring detail about the Australian political context, that might be some indication of the overall regard in which his comments, and those of his hench-idiots, were generally held. Cheers :-)
  9. I received the same email, but it was about 6 months ago. Apparently the speech was made a couple of years ago. http://www.antiguasun.com/paper/?as=view&sun=281935077507132005&an=273345089205082008&ac=Opinion However I'm not sure if the entire speech was, in fact, completely true..http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/australia.asp However, wouldn't it be nice if we had that kind of leadership in the U.S.? Maybe consideration of a move "down-under" is in order.
  10. I've checked into this and I haven't found a real note worthy source tying these comments directly to John Howard, I tend to think that some subordinate members of his administration have made similar comments and the far left Down Under are having a field day with them since Mr. Howard has not disavowed this statements or the individuals who actually made them. John Howard sadly enjoyed nearly the same rapport with the media in his country as our President (41) George H. W. Bush does with our media. Nothing he does escapes criticism from all quarters.... Regarding another poster's comment about immigration; Australia is incredibly strict regarding immigration, they invite all sorts of people to visit but are very, very selective about who they allow to immigrate. Whatever shortcomings America might have, you'll find no better nation on the face of the Earth and if you're not actively trying to be part of the solution to the many woes we all suffer then you're part of the problem.
  11. I received the same E-mail and it has been around before. But no matter, I admire the man, and the truth is the truth . and wish we in America would take this stand. also. God bless.
  12. Maybe you should search the web to find an accredited source rather than asking confused YA! users.
  13. Army Wife almost had it right, our politicians need a back bone. We also need to throw out everyone in office and find fresh blood. People who aren't in it for what they can get out of it but truly want to make this country what it was! We are on a direct course for disaster right now.
