Has any UK politician the nuts to say this ? - good old Oz?
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." "However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia ." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle." "This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom" "We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!" "Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture." "We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us." "If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. "This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." "If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."

- do you think bush and dick can get away with saying that since they work for Muslim oil companies?... i wonder?
- No UK mainstream politician would say that and keep his job. Since the London bombings some left wing people have blamed the war in Iraq for it and urged appeasement of radical muslims. The UK is not a stridently progressive country like America or Australia. It's a relatively backward country wracked with post colonial guilt. It's this guilt that lies behind it's slaveish adherence to political correctness. I'm British by the way.
- Here's an interesting article off the net - obviously tongue in cheek: -------------------------------------------------------------- "Look mate, as a Muslim, I reserve the right to: 1) Come to this country and take advantage of all your social security, even though I've never paid a penny in tax. 2) Find everything you do an offence to my religion, and insist that new laws are passed to oppress you in your own country. 3) Make no effort at all to integrate because your country will be all Muslim one day, so why bother? 4) Speak in my own language to other Muslims in the presence of white people, even though my English is perfectly acceptable. 5) Start up my own business and evade paying income tax, only employ other Muslims (even though that sort of thing is illegal for white people), and give some of the profit from my business to other family members, so they can come to this country and buy the house next door. 6) Hate your country, even though I chose to come here, and even though it gives me all the things impossible in the country I just left. 7) Kill anyone who isn't a Muslim, if they try and marry one of our women. I could go on . . . What could you possibly find wrong with that?" ------------------------------------------------------------- .
- Yeh i agree , if you want to go and live in another country obide by their laws and their rules it pretty much goes without saying . But its kinda hypocritical of the austrailians to talk about anybody going there and not showing respect , Thats another country built on misserry and slavery only the slaves where not of color but the scots and irish mixed with english condemed criminals to even suggest that christian values helped build austrailia is a slapp in the face to the thousands that had to row there some 8000 miles if they survived , , what are they scared that their country and culture is at risk ? I wonder what the aboriginals would have to say ? I mean considering that Austrailia is theres anybody ask them ? i wonder what was going through the minds of them or the south americans, africans or native americans when their lands where being raped and plummished , where they where persicuted and killed for their NON christian devil worshiping beleives ? I dont really think the austrailians have much of a say anyway its practically not even a country but an extension of the old brittish empire where over 65% of the country are brittish related and the rest made up from aboriginals and south east asians who are the muslim majority in that country not arab muslims . And as for "if the southern flag offends you leave"remark well that says it all , Their are people here in the usa that will say the stars and stripes is the flag for the whole united staed (hence the word UNITED) so if you dont want to be under that flag why dont they leave ??? The US has too many issues of its own to be bogged down with other peoples mess lets sort our own stuff out let others sort theirs and then maybe the world will be in a better position to sort itself out . But heres the thing that gets me and let me know what you think , how come we all get mad and upset when other cultures infringe on our own , we get scared we feel threatened , but its ok for us to show up at virtually anybodies door step in the world and boot down their door and demeand changes ? Now i know that their are someplaces out there that are in direstraights but come on people opened your eyes look at the state of our own country, goverment, people . i cant think of anywhere else in the world with more issues moraly ethically or religiously than our own . It maybe their lifestyle & they may have forged a country but sure as hell is not their land to tell anybody to come or go .
- Pl, you obviously don't know much about Australian history. For one, we have never had slaves here in Australia. The convicts who were brought out from England 200 years ago were treated very well by Govenor Phillip, who led the fleet to Australia. Within a very short period of time of arriving many had been given the freedom to set up businesses, farming etc. and made a good life. Yes the aboriginal people were treated very badly by the early settlers and we are still paying for it. But the US can't talk because they did import slaves and tried to also wipe out the native indians. Australia is a nation in its own right. We might still show allegience to the Queen but only in name. The UK doesn't tell us what to do or how to live our lives. As for there being 65% British and the rest asian or aboriginal you are so out of touch. Australia is now made up of peoples from all over Europe, Africa and Asia and a high proportion of asians are not muslim but catholic. I would like you to go and live in a muslim country like Saudi Arabia and try and live your life the way you would like. Sorry, live under their ways in their country or not at all. Australians are not against muslims living here. Like all people we embrace different cultures and religions. We just don't allow one to impose their ways to the detriment of the rest as has happened in parts of the UK - Bradford being a good example. Terrorism is something we all fear and if we can minimise any risk to ourselves by making our feelings known then so be it.
