What percentage of the Texas economy is fueled by the federal government?
One example are little institutions such as NASA, Raytheon, and Boeing in Texas which are ALL federal contract divisions and receive their funding via fleecing America. There is much more. Also, Houston TX is among the highest federal locality pay areas in the country at 28.28% second only to the San Francisco Bay area. http://www.opm.gov/flsa/oca/09tables/pdf/saltbl.pdf PDF pay table So how much of Texas GDP is federally funded?

- Well, considering Texas is one of the few red states that aren't feeling the full effect of this recession, can't be much more than what you said.
- how much of the national economy is funded by the people in all 50 states?
- Very little. Keep your liberal hogwash to loony states like California. We have a low sales tax and no income tax. We don't steal money from one group to give to another. We don't place the life of a spotted owl above the life of a human being.
- NASA, Raytheon and Boeing all have holdings in Arizona as well. Why aren't you attacking your DHS Secretary's home state as well?
- Don't forget the roads, mail, energy, etc...I suspect quite a bit of it but hey, let the idiots secede!!!! America doesn't need idiots and it'll give the other idiots spread out throughout the country a place where they can all go to get away from Obama and a progressive, strong and fair nation! (But those cowboy wanna-be's better not cry to us if Mexico decides that they want to take it back!!!)
- You could say the same thing about France, Holland, Belgium and Italy. So?
- Well, I don't know percentage. In 2005, though, Texas received more than $37,000,000 in Federal Funding and paid just under $7,000,000 to DC. So, essentially, Texas as a state is costing the US more than it's giving. FYI: Some states, like Florida and NY, give more to DC than they get.
- I don't know the exact percentage, but it is definitely too much. No more money coming from Washington...but no more money going *to* Washington, either. It is time for us to emulate John Galt and stop the machine of the world before it self-destructs. Like Atlas, we should shrug.
- It really matters not. They have in the past and will again come out on top. It might be hard for many to see--but the average Texan is extremely proud of their state and also honor the constitution. If they secede, they will be fine.
- and the welfare load is what
- Carefull, there wouldn't be an America if our military did not have the products these plants produced. Also labor costs in Texas are less than elsewhere in the US. Genius, Boeing is in Seattle, WA We should secede from the union and charge you more. Republic of Texas sounds so good compared too United Socialist States of America. May God protect the American People and the Free World from the Media, Democrat Party and Barack Hussein Obama.
- 4 every dollar that texas pays to the government they(we) get back 83 r 86 cents, some states only get 36 cents, this not counting their bailout money, which at first was being rejected but our governor, but had a change of heart.now the ----heads want to secede.
- I know a Texas local politician. He refers to Federal Funds as Eating Blue Corn. (as in Blue State)
- When you clean up your State ,then then you can come after Texas...
