Will a mistake gets one fired?

I have submitted copies of RFP and a CD to a loca government agency bidding for business. However, by mistake, the document on the CD was a WORD and XLS doc instead of a PDF format specified by the RFP guidelines. I am afraid that I will be fired due to this mistake. Thr RFP was for a huge business opportunity. I am losing sleep over it and don't know if I should tell my boss or wait... :( so sad.

  1. It depends on your boss. You didn't follow the guidelines and the company now miss out on the opportunity to get the business. Don't wait. Talk to your boss and explain the situation. It shows some professionalism.
  2. Don't wait. Go straight to your boss and tell him you just realized your mistake. MAYBE you can still submit the correct docs or maybe he can rectify the situation. Your integrity will be highlighted and he may just forgive you. If he fires you just for that, then you're better off not working there..................unless this is something frequent?!!!
  3. I would do my best to send the right format and inform my boss about the issue. At least it would show your responsible for the problem and you are trying to rectify it. If they fire you after that then they probably would have fired you anyway.
