how is our government benefiting from these no bid contractors in Iraq like halliburton and blackwater?

i watched the movie "iraq for sale: the war profiteers" and was wondering why is the government wasting so much money on these companies in Iraq. these companies are making billions of dollars in profit. how is the government benefiting from this it seems like these companies are the only ones benefiting because there gettin paid to do nothing yea great movie on how these selected companies get to go to iraq and make billions. its funny cuz all of the companies have some connection to famous republicans and other politicians in high power. no other companies get to compete to see who goes to Iraq because its all NO-BID contractors...means if the gov likes u , u get to go

  1. I gotta watch that movie - sounds good.
  2. "..paid to do nothing..." you mean like the Dem Congress who is just spending money we don't have?
  3. Considering it takes about a year for a government bid to go from start to bid award; I would say we are benefitting by speed which is very important when supporting our soldiers.
  4. I saw that documentary too, I watched it out of curiosity. It's very biased and not entirely accurate, it takes a few instances of an event occurring and repeatedly plays them for about an hour in an attempt to convince you that this is all that is going on in Iraq, and it's not. Halliburton is one of the only companies in the world large enough to fulfill the role it does in Iraq. If it wouldn't have been Halliburton, some other company would get the job, and would face the same criticism that Halliburton does. Our government does benefit from Halliburton's services, but it could have avoided a no-bid contract. No-bid contracts are signs of corruption, it is especially easy to connect these dots when you look at the size of the contract and the fact that Dick Cheney is the former CEO. Clearly, this was a payout to them, we overpaid for their services.
  5. These are just some of the things that Bush created while in office the wasteful spending and the underhanded contracts. Our new President is already addressing these problems and the wasted money that we did not know about .If you think the stimulus bill is a lot of money take a look at all the contractors pockets that Bush was filling and that money did not benefit us.
  6. They Halliburton/ backwater have no compition
  7. We aren't. Haliburton and Blackwater are war profiteers and should be prosecuted for their crimes. The privatization of our military should be ended.
  8. The only money left to grease the wheels of government could be coming from companies that just can not fail. They areguaranteedd to profit from the US government and will use the power of the lobbies and campaign contributions to drive their companies.
  9. It does take time for the government to get off their backside and get things going. The no bid contract was done in Bosnia by former president Clinton and carried on by former president Bush. More than likely it was or has been done by other presidents as well.
