Any Coast Guard recruiters here?

There's not nearly as many CG recruiters in my area as army, usn, usmc and usaf. I previously joined the Marines on an open contract, shipped to boot camp, they caught me with the good cop/bad cop routine about lying to my recruiter about a wrist fracture. I learned later i never should of opened my mouth. Well when given a medical evaluation they diagnosed me with symptomatic scoliosis, was told i would need to be out of training for at least 6 months. and need to see a civilian doctor for a waiver for scoliosis if the degree of the arch was less than 12 % It has been six months, and i am sure i can get a doctor to waiver me, howver i am thinking instead of joining the coast guard. It seems to more match my life style. My re-entry code on my dd214 is: RE-3P seperation code is: JFV1 Convience of Government, Medical Discharge I do not know much about the specific jobs, MOS's or wat ever the CD calls their work, but i would like to do something in marittime security, like as in the units that bust drug running and conduct security searches. Or would be interested in something career-orientaed such as medicine. Based on the given info, am i eligible? I did not see any security, maritime police force or such jobs on the website, only gunner's mate, which didn't seem like what i meant. Can i get a little more info about joining the CG, as in what i can do, where i would be living, [on base or on water, details] and such. will respond with an edit to add more info if i forgot some. thanks

  2. So, you learned that you should have lied and then not told anyone about it?? Just so you know, I discharge people from the Coast Guard for that very thing. We call failure to disclose possible disqualifying information to your recruiter "Fraudulent Enlistment." I seriously doubt with your JFV SPD Code and RE-3P you'll get into the Coast Guard. If you do go to a Coast Guard recruiter, be straightforward, don't withhold anything. Sooner or later, we'll find out, and it usually doesn't turn out well. If you do make it in, remember that it's not a walk in the park. The rating you seem to be interested in won't be standing up until 1 January 2010, and that's the Maritime Enforcement Specialist. We do have Deployable Specialized Forces, but that will come a little later in your career if you get in. Remember, tell the recruiter everything, including your failure to disclose your injury on your first time through a recruiting office. If they DQ you because of your history, take it in stride. Good Luck.
