Is public health still a priority of the government?
I was reading an article on the reemergence of Tuberculosis. Polio is another disease that continues to evade efforts at eradication. I have met people, including friends who refuse to immunize their children. I am shocked that this is allowed. The daughter of a co-worker contracted Scarlett Fever; another man had a son with Whopping Cough. I thought these diseases were gone in the US. Do you think it is time for the Federal government and WHO to resort to the old methods of quarantine and “NO SHOTS, NO SCHOOL”?

- There are many people who have lost trust in the government and feel that the vaccination itself poses a greater risk than the disease. This has caused a backlash against mandatory vaccinations - esp for diseases like HPV which are not contagious. There is also a problem when too many vaccinations are mandated. When only a few children are not vaccinated they are still generally safe from disease because of "herd" immunity, but the size of the backlash against government mandates has grown. Creating a new mandate will only exacerbate the problem. Perhaps it would be best if schools only required the most basic shots, instead of everything available.
