Should a contract with the government be just one sided? There are thousands of men and women that retired from the military service of our great nation that were promised free medical care and treatment for themselves and their families. Now that free Medical Care and treatment is a situation where if you don't pay you won't have medical care. I find it not fair to do the work and then the Government says we don't have a contract. The Officers and senior Noncommissioned Officers promised all enlisted and for that matter Officers as well that if we would stay in service that we would have free care for self and family. My comrades and I stayed in the service doing our country's bidding, and when have filled our side of the contract the government says that we never had a contract. Does that not qualify as a verbal contract? Besides not medical care that I was promised what am I not getting?

Did you hear Haliburton is moving to Middle East? "..On Saturday, Halliburton CEO Dave Lesar announced that the conglomerate's headquarters would move from Houston to Dubai, a booming city in the United Arab Emirates known for its liberal tax and residency laws. Lesar said the company's business was now largely based in the Middle East and Asia. Halliburton, which was headed by Vice President Dick Cheney from 1995-2000, received several lucrative no-bid government contracts to manage the reconstruction of Iraq following the U.S.-led invasion there. Last month, federal investigators alleged Halliburton was responsible for $2.7 billion of the $10 billion in contractor waste and overcharging in Iraq. In 2006, Halliburton earned profits of $2.3 billion on revenues of $22.6 billion." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070312/ap_on_el_pr/on_the2008_trail Any doubt whom Bush and Cheney have been working for all along? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6708190071483512003&q=911
How was the Ports contract to Dubai awarded? It used to be in, this country, that all government contracts were put out to an open bid. The lowest priced bid from the contractors that met the criteria to do the job was awarded the contract. I beleive at one time only American owned companies were only able to get American contracts. I know that when Bush became president he eased the restrictions so that contractors who had broken the law (for instance by hiring illegal aliens) could still get a government contract. I know that Halliburton got a lot of "no bid" contracts in the Iraq war. I'm not sure how cotracts are awarded any more, in this country.
i own an inactive corporation do i own any taxes? i formed a corporation about 2 year ago. it has been on a shelf ever since i formed it. it has no tax no, no employees, no bank accounts, no financial transactions, no assets and no debts. i am waiting for it to become 5 years old so i can be eligible to bid for government contract jobs; they dont give contracts to brand-new companies. My question is do i owe any taxes or should i have done any kind of annual paper work. i meant to say do i owe any taxes, not do i own any taxes its a nevada corporation its a nevada corporation the last part of its name is INC so i think its a c-corp Dr Deth. we are talking about the US govt, you know, the one that will pay $500 for a wal-mart hammer. why cant i bid on contracts with a company with no financial history. i got my personal history. all of a sudden they will become competent when they review my proposal? these people buy toilet paper for $10 per roll.
Why do People often complain that Illegals and minorities using our tax dollars, and many social services? People often complain that Illegals and minorities are draining our economy and using our tax dollars, and using many of our social services. I say let them, it's not like the Governments going to suddenly cut back on spending, or give me a refund check for the money the have left over. It's just going to go in someone else is pocket. Haliberton for instance, they charge the Government anything they want, with their no bid contracts. Bush doesn't have to pay for it, All the american tax payers do. I suppose they are getting the best medical care. I don't think so, Americans with a little money can't even afford medical their bills.
What are the rights of someone filing a lawsuit against a contracting company for workmanship? I own my own contracting company and have always had nothing but satisfied clients except for this one family. This job was funded by the state because this guy is in a wheelchair and needed a more accessible bathroom. To put things short this job was hell! The guy in the wheelchair threatened my contractor, they wanted to make changes to the materials (toilet, shower, ect.) after the government approved the bid, they picked the flooring and paint and after it was installed said it wasn't what they wanted, they even damaged property that was supposed to be installed because they didn't like it. The job was for 10,000 we didn't get paid for labor at all, now they want to sue us for 25,000! They originally had 4 complaints and I have documented that we offered to go back and fix it or even pay for another contractor to fix it. I didn't agree but I wanted them off my back, they refused. Now they are saying they are going to the media to slander my companys name and suing us. Oh and by the way their list of four complaints is now up to 75! We do have documentation that we contacted the state about them destroying the flooring, the sink, and some accessories but I am worried that nobody will believe us because this guy is in a wheelchair. I can't have my company on TV for doing bad work! What can we do??? The total cost of the bathroom was $10,000 we got paid $5,000 for materials which are all in the bathroom.
I won a gov bid but needs funds to deliver the product? I own a small business and recently got a government bid. I need $45K to purchase the equipment from the MFG and will get $66K in the end. I wrote "payment in advance" on the bid but the county said they pay 30 days after install. It takes 35 days sea freight to get my product, 1 week for the install and 30-45 days to get paid. I offered a friend $6K to fund the deal for me but he could not qualify for a line of credit or short term loan. I can't take out a loan because I have an SBA loan that prohibits any other loans and I have no more room on that loan to get more. I tried a funding place in Florida but they want $12K. Do I have any options for $5-6K to get funded? I have the county's contract and bid acceptance paperwork. bond amount = no A friend of mine told me to check out www.liquidcapitalcorp.com/custage so I may have a solution.
how many white businessmen have been discriminated against? when i was bidding government contracts. the minority advantage was 5%. i could bid 22 million on a contract, pay a black man 50k to sign his name, bid 23 million in his name. he gets the contract, i get the work, plus a million dollars. i sub contract the work. pay 30k to the politician that made it happen. the tax payer foots the bill. this affirmative action is robbery of the taxpayer for black votes. is this the change you hoped for?
Why does the U.S. government allow no-bid contracts and should we continue them.? I'm sorry that I don't have the source for this, but I believe that Halliburton was awarded a no-bid contract for their services in Iraq. Why does the federal government allow no-bid contracts and should they be continued? Is there any advantage to allowing a no-bid contract? If so, how does it help the American people by allowing a no-bid contract? I'll give the ten points to the best answer which gives a valid reason why we should continue allowing no-bid contracts. (For those who don't know what a no-bid contract is, I believe it is when the government a contract to an individual or group/company without considering competitive bids). Thank you, Jose R for supplying the citation on Halliburton's no bid contract! There are about 4 excellent answers below. I can't decide which answer is the best, so I'm going to send this to the voters to make the decision. Excellent answers follow. NOTE TO VOTERS: please pick the answer that best explains why we use no-bid contracts rather than the one that best describes your thoughts on this issue, please!
Should the U.S. Government Create a Private Army to Work in Iraq? Should the federal government direct the Pentagon to create the framework for the privitization of military operations in Iraq? Specifically, the Pentagon would compose a broad scope of work -- identifying where troops are needed as well as equipment and support requirements. The contract would then go out to bid and corporations would bid for the contract -- or pieces of the contract. U.S. troops would then rotate out as privately employed mercanaries would move in. The corporation that holds the contract would be required to report progress and intelligence to the Pentagon. This is a unique conflict that requires unique ideas. (Side note: If the private army ever needed assistance (such as air support, it would be provided to them ... for a price, of course).

Contractor of federal government, not paying employees for holidays?? Is this legal? I work for a company that is contracted by the federal government. We are currently in the process bidding for a new contract, which ended September 30, 2007. We are currently working under an extension of the previous contract until the new one is awarded. Our employer is stating that she won't get paid until she is awarded the contract and therefore we are not getting government holidays paid, though were are forced to take them off unpaid. She states that we will receive pay for these prorated in the future. There are other contract offices other than ours and from what we have heard, they have gotten all of their holiday pay. We also are only getting prorated pay for our personal and vacation time. I don't like this, I can understand the personal/vacation time a little bit better than the holiday because that is time we are requesting to take off. No one seems to want to ask anyone who is connected to our company for fear of losing their job. We have been in contact with the Office of Inspector General, but they do not answer their phone or reply to their email. If your solution is to find another job, trust me, I am trying. We have what we call the "golden handcuff" here, meaning that our wages are decent enough and finding a job that is competitive to them is extremely difficult. We are also being told that with this new contract, it is called performance based and that if our company doesn't meet the government's expectations 100% that we won't get paid….someone please tell me how this is legal? Does anyone know who I could contact about this?
What if there was a website where governments could post open bid contracts for jobs? And was set up to allow people and companies to bid on them online? Would this be a good way to lower costs for all government contracts spending as few tax dollars on them as possible allowing for this money to be spent on more urgent areas such as catalyzing the move towards enviromental friendliness for all countries or for the care of the poor or sick or old and infeeble or orphans, or a combination of all of them?
Why does a US Government document attack Haliburton for chargeing for 42,000 meals when it only served 14,000? Some people didn't like my Rolling Stone Source, Kelly B found the information from a US government document: http://lautenberg.senate.gov/documents/domestic/dpc_transcript.pdf So, rather than attack me and rollingstone, now the good conservatives can either attack the US Senate, or address my questions regarding Haliburton and the plutocracy and kleoptocracy we live in. And liberals you aren't off the hook either, George Soros is a major shareholder and under Bill Clinton Haliburton got no bid contracts. ---- We're getting ripped off and everyone wants to blame the other party, wake up America, wake the %^&( up!@
Is this the way dirty money keeps pouring in to campaigns to keep the worst elected in our Government? And to keep the Iraq War going so that campaign donors could manipulate America's tax dollar spending to enrich themselves? For example, take Blackwater, a North Carolina company that is now one of the most profitable military contractors operating in Iraq, and proves just what a land of billion-dollar industry opportunity Iraq really is. Blackwater's president, Gary Jackson, acclaimed a "staggering" 600% growth in 2004: Erik Prince, Blackwater's founder and a born-again Christian (from Pat Robertson's radical cult?) who had served as an intern in the White House in the early 90s, and his wife have given $275,550 to Republican campaigns, and $0 to the Democrats. Not surprising, his company received an odd no-bid contract to guard Iraq's Coalition Provisional Authority. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/story/0,,2100844,00.html Its employees specialize in shooting people by bursting into rooms with machine guns and shooting from helicopters and rooftops. It pays each of them $600 a day, but bill the Kuwaiti Regency Hotel company for $815. Regency, according to the Raleigh News & Observer, bills defence services company ESS for another chunk of money. ESS sends the bill to Kellogg, Brown & Root, who add a percentage for their services and present the inflated bill to the Pentagon. Blackwater signed a contract with Regency and ESS specifying that each security mission should have a minimum of "two armoured vehicles to support ESS movements". Blackwater had the word "armoured" deleted from the contract and saved $1.5m. Are there members within the Pentagon being used in the Manipulating Money Game to enrich themselves and these companies and dragging America's integrity downhill - especially when deaths in Iraq seem so questionable these days. Who actually is killing who in Iraq? Are those hired by these no-bid contracting companies the actual cause of unrest in Iraq? Or are born-again Christians, like Erik Prince of Blackwater a part of a darker plot to bring Armageddon to the world, using the Iraq War?
Want to know why I dislike Bush? Do you agree? Or not? Someone asked why liberals hate Bush and then the question was deleted.. Here is was my answer.. I hate Bush because: 1) His policies, both domestic and abroad do not favor my community, my self, my family, nor my environment 2) His policies have done little to improve the world we live in 3) He has lied to the American people over and over again 4) He supports christian and conservative politics that undermind the constitution such as.. Abolishing Abortion, Suppporting vice laws, Outlawing flag burning (freedom of demonstration), supporting prayer in school (freedom of religion), etc 5) he has impeded on my civil liberties to the point that I can draw clear and direct similarites from his administration to the book 1984 and that scares the shit out of me.. ie. The Patriot Act 6) He has wasted billions of American taxpayers dollars on fighting a stupid war in Iraq 7) He has wasted billions more by giving his corporate pals no bid government contracts 8) He has instilled a deep rooted fear in the hearts of American's for political reasons 9) He is a drunk cowboy who had his entire life handed to him by his father 10) He has only a loose handle on the English language and is incapaeable of being an effective orator, something that I find to be important for the leader of the free world.
How should true patriots reclaim the media from Republican/Fascist interests? http://www.nowfoundation.org/issues/communications/tv/mediacontrol.html http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=fascism+in+america&btnG=Search ) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. Bush threatens to veto $442b defense bill if Congress investigates detainee abuses. Labor Department warns unions against using their money politically President Bush Attacks Organized Labor: Bush attacked organized labor Saturday, issuing orders effectively reducing how much money unions can spend for political activities and opening up government contracts to non-union bidding. March 2001: President Bush signed his name to four executive orders on organized labor last month, including one that cuts the money unions will have for political campaign spending. Bush's new economic plan cuts funding for arts, education Artists from all over the world are being refused entry to the US on security grounds. Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations American Gestapo is here: "There is hereby created and established a permanent police force, to be known as the 'United States Secret Service Uniformed Division.'" Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. Which side of the table is Bush on???? Here we go again with Mexico and the immigration of "cheap labor" for corporate America while we move closer to "slavery"! Bush is on vacation in Mexico selling out the American one more time before he gets impeached! He was all for "cheap labor" for his corporate cronies, then crossed lines to appease the American people, and now back stepping in Mexico! These same people claim to be "LEADERS"??? What are they leading us toward?? People in this country better get a back bone and step up to the plate because time is running out!!!!!! Haliburton is now moving all its assets and corporate offices to the Middle East! United Emigrants ring any bells? Where anyone can go and corporate law doesn't exist? Where there are no extradition policies with the US? Where a company that has questionable actions involving 2.7 billion dollars of "inappropriate" billing? Where the same company that Cheney is a "behind the scenes" man gets "NO BID" government contracts? How much more folks????????????
Why is the government allowed to have no bid contracts? State governments are not allowed to do that....
What are your thoughts on Corporate Welfare? Or do you believe that pork barrel spending, earmarks, subsidies are a wonderful way to spend our tax dollars? You always hear people griping and complaining about entitlement programs and social programs, but these same people seem to support our government giving tax dollars to big business. Remember that farming subsidy program that was supposed to help the small farmers compete on the market? Why are agrigiants like ADM getting subsidized when their factory farms destroy small farmers and they employ illegals? Why are we paying big Pharma to sell our elderly prescription medicine at a higher cost? Why do we subsidize Big Oil while they rake in record profits and we pay astronomical prices at the pump? Why do we allow the Government to give no bid contracts out to Halliburton, with no regards to cost? It's your money people! crknapp - Why should my tax dollars go to pay for your employees? Pay for your own employees. That's no different than handing them a welfare check... only the corporation is benefiting.
How will Halliburton and KBR survive now that they have to compete for government contracts? Dick Cheney isn't handing them millions in No-ceiling, No-Bid contracts! "Cheney, who served as CEO from 1995 to 2000, continues to receive as much as $1 million a year in deferred compensation as Halliburton executives enjoy a seat at the table during Administration discussions over how to handle post-war oil production in Iraq." http://www.citizenworks.org/corp/halliburton.php Cookie Monster....I hope you don't actually believe that! I know your a republican, with the name calling an all, but overlooking an obvious "conflict of Interest" for 8 years can become a chore! Have a nice weekend! BTW.....Dick Cheney quite possibly could be the worst thing to happen to America in 40 years...Under his term as VP, America had 8 months of peace, he is linked to companies such as Halliburton, KBR, and United Defense! All those companies play a role in War! So what did we get under Cheney? Plenty of just such a thing........WAR! One more thing.......If Nancy Pelosi was CEO of Reebok, and then weaseled in and signed a no-bid contract to supply shoes to everyone in Washington at 300 a pop....you Cheney defenders wouldn't be shouting," well Reebok is the most comfortable shoes"....My guess is no..........and I hate Pelosi! Cookie Monster........I only found about 30............http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oilfield_service_companies
How do I procure Government contracts.? I own a small mom and pop kind of flooring store and I would like to have the opportunity to bid on government projects. What channels do I need to focus on to make this happen? Federal and State projects.
What if Democrats controlled the entire government? Hi, I live in Ewing, NJ. It's probably the biggest Democrat stronghold in America. We have some of the highest taxes anywhere, although they pay the newspapers to print stories that taxes are being lowered. The Dems here have failed to pass a budget the past year, so no one knows where the money's going. They raised sewer taxes, the sewer company told them they are behind on payment. We have a senior citizens center that is half-filled. They decided to buy another one, right next to the airport no less. There are tons of shady land deals going on with a company named American Properties that is getting no-bid cheap land contracts. The mayor bussed people from the local college, that don't live here, to vote for him in the election. The local police have been told to harass Republicans. Is this the kind of America liberals want? I only have 1,000 characters to work with, but I could go on.... does anyone live in a Republican stronghold area that's this bad? Here's a source for more info: http://www.nj.com/forums/ewing/index.ssf?page=0 I would never be so foolish to say that only Democrats were corrupt, but I think they are far worse then Republicans
Has Obama let out a no-bid contract to get handcuffs for the coming criminals who don't buy insurance? A sad day in America, as a condition of citizenship you are compelled by government to buy something or be a criminal.
Did you ever wonder how government contracting works? The White House Fence Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House in DC: One is from New York , another is from Tennessee and the third, is from Florida . All three go with a White House official to examine the fence The Florida contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me." The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me." The New York contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$2,700." The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?" The New York contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence." "Done!" replies the government official. And that, my friends, is how government contracting works!
Why did Cheney think going into Iraq would be a quagmire in 1994, but now thinks we are welcomed "liberators"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YENbElb5-xY What changed in the 10 years he said this and the invasion of Iraq? Oh, that's right, he became Vice President with far reaching powers to advance the neoconservative US global dominance agenda while making himself and his friends rich with no-bid government contracts.... Flip-flop? What changed?
Business is sold: Father- Son/daughter-in-law, everything else is identical. Can employees get unemployment? If the new owners of the company do not hire the previous employees, are the previous employees eligible to claim unemployment from the new owners of the company if not hired by them? The employees earn comission only. The company name, building, everything else is the same. It is a government contract that is periodically up for bid.
Can any one tell me the very best way to start contracting for the government? I have bid on projects but have not succeded. I am legal with contractors lic. plus registered with all the ccr's etc.
Can 167,000 troops do the job that 150,000 troops couldnot? Fear, terror, threat and safety are all smoke screens to dodge the real issue. You cannot defend yourself from a country that was not gonig to attack and Iraq was not and could not attack the US. The REAL ISSUE IS MONEY. The Bush led GOP spearheaded an initiative to privitze services that were formerly provided by the Armed Forces. When my father ate in the mess hall the army provided the grub. Now Halliburton serves the meals. We spend 4 billion dollars per month in Iraq. Where do you think the money goe? Soldier salaries?? WRONG...Research and Development? Wrong again. They go to NO BID government contracts. Lots of em. This is a rare opportunity for GOP friendly companies to rake in billions. When the war ends that opportunity will cease for decades. They dont want the war to end and will lie, cheat steal, kill and use fear tactics to keep the voters in support of it. Dont be fooled. We're going broke over this war while someone is getting rich rich rich.
Im stuck between going to school to become a certified electrician or a firefighter. Which ever I choose I? want to school afterwards to get my masters degree in business. If i go the electrician route i want to own my own business and bid on government contracts. Which one sounds more inticing?
Will Halliburton get a no-bid contract to build the wall across the Mexican border? I want to sell the U.S. government the materials needed to build the wall across Mexico. There is a fortune to be made. Does any one have any contacts in the government?
What is FAUX CAPITALISM & DEMOCRACY as practiced by government of USA? in regards to everything from bailouts, to outsourcing of jobs, to illegal aliens, to monopolies, no bid contracts, etc... Explain how there is this myth that we are a capitalistic society and also a pluralistic society when in fact, we are neither free market nor a government of the people by the people for the benefit of the people.
What exactly does Bush mean by "Stay the course"? MORE of our troops needlesly being killed in Iraq! "Stay the course"? Does it mean "Let's have our troops wander aimlessly while insurgent terrorists who have come to Iraq mainly to kill American troops and innocent Iraqi citizens maraude the country, so that my friends and I can reap the profits of no-bid government contracts and vast amounts of oil"? Or is there something I'm not getting? I mean, there were no WMD's, there was no Iraqi-terrorist collaboration...sure Saddam was an arrogant asss and treated his country poorly, but what dictator doesn't? I hope 'dreamer' has read John J's answer... -Troops ARE wandering aimlessly - the only point of them being there now is to BE THERE, and to combat the hostiles that have flooded Iraq in RESPONSE TO US BEING THERE! -Again, the terrorists/hostiles are drawn to Iraq because US troops are there, and 'unwlecomed'...this does not mean they they would otherwise come to US soil and cause mayem here! -Innocent Iraqis shouldn't have to die because WE feel they should not live under Husseins oppression! That is crusade-ish, 'mighty whitey' thinking. If they didn't rise up, then let them be oppressed - it IS NOT our problem. -I DO watch the news plenty...as John said...the WMD's found were ANCIENT! -If Saddam was a terrorist and a proper 'war on terror' target, then so is half of the worlds leaders! The difference? O - I - L - don't try to deny it. -US troops fighting and being killed in the name of freedom - I have no problem with that...but when young people are being killed for no good reason? They are NOT giving their lives for freedom - they are giving their lives for money, and that is wrong!
Who should take responsibility at Walter Reed VA Hospital? Who decided to give IAP Worldwide Services the contract to run Walter Reed? Why did IAP, whose chairman, Al Neffgen, a former executive of Halliburton, get the contract? Why did the Army "unilaterally" increase the government cost to run Walter Reed by $7 Million, making the government bid to run the hospital higher than the IAP bid? Why did the Army give IAP the contract after IAP failed so miserably in fulfilling its previous government contract to deliver ice to New Orleans after Katrina? Why did more than 250 out of some 300 government employees at Walter Reed leave after IPA got the contract? What is IPA doing for the $120 Million contract? When Donald Rumsfeld found out from his wife that things were getting bad at Walter Reed, did he even bother to look into the problem? We need the answer to these questions.
Should someone be held responsible for all the ludicrous spending done on no bid contracts? Don't you feel cheated out hearing all these companies getting government contracts and overpricing everything because there is no competition to worry about?
How many Brother in Laws with a Construction Company does the average Congressman have, seriously $100 Billion? $100 Billion for Construction jobs ... give me a break. how could 7 - 8 hundred Congressmen have that many family members with open end no bid Government Construction Contracts
I started a travel agency what is the best way to market my business? How can I bid for government & corporate contracts to book their travel?
Would would be an example of a Government Organization.? Government organizations are part of the business market. Contracts for government purchases are often out for bid, and the vendor with the lowest bid usually wins, unless they are proven not up to standard. What would be an example of a government organization and a vendor?

If Communism is where the government runs Manufacturing...? Then why do some people call it communism is the Government runs the Commons? This would be as grossly inaccurate as calling Conservatives who want to give no-bid contracts to Blackwater Fascists because of the Government/Corporate coalition. Has any liberal ever suggested the Government should run Manufacturing Plants, which are supposed to be run by Private Corporations? I certainly haven't heard any. I guess my point is, there are Communists and Fascists in America, they're just not the Neoconservatives and Liberals who get accused of these things. Neither of our groups are arguing for the Government/Corporate coalitions, or the Government takeover of Manufacturing. Competition is the American Ideal.
