And I have heard other people say they have seen them in other places too. First, I am by no means a conspiracy theorist, nor do I have any plans to be. However, I do try to be a logical thinker. There are some conspiracy theories that I find to be downright silly, and others that I find to be very, very plausible. As far as these 'plastic coffins' or 'vaults' (which ever is the correct term) is concerned, some say that they are going to be used as quick and cheap disposal devices after a disease/biological weapon/nuke etc, is unleashed and wrecks havok on 'us'. Supposedly they are a better option than mass graves since biological agents and/or radio active materials can still pollute the surronding areas, so these 'vaults' or 'coffins' will be used..again in theory. Interestingly enough, there are FEMA/goverment documents that reccomend this instead of mass graves. As a side note - FEMA is NOT just an emergency disaster relief agency, under certain emergency situations or Martial Law, FEMA has the power to do just about anything include suspend constitutional rights. Who knew? Then others say, they are simply the property of a company that makes them like the 'vantage plastic corp.' (if I remember correctly). And these are required in some states to prevent damage to the actual coffins and to help keep them in place in flood conditions. Hence they have been mass produced and kept in stock on 'pre-sale' status. Discuss the contract issues under international law...? The Melbourne company Gadgco Ltd sold novelty games and devices. In December 2009 Gadgco’s managing director emailed an enquiry to the UK company Rippa plc about some very popular items, asking for a price and any special terms. Rippa’s reply set out the following terms: • There was a discount of 8% for orders over $500,000 • Shipment would be DEQ Melbourne within 30 days of receipt of a firm order and establishment of a letter of credit. A price list was attached which said on the bottom in small print: ‘Our General Conditions of Sale are on our website’. Gadgco Ltd faxed a firm purchase order on 10 January 2010 together with a copy of its General Conditions of Purchase, stated to be: ‘part of our purchase order.’ These conditions included an arbitration clause’ (ie disputes were to go to arbitration), and named the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration in Melbourne. Rippa plc faxed shipping dates and its invoice the same day. On the bottom was (again) the small print statement: ‘Our General Conditions of Sale are available at our website’ All the items were shipped within 30 days and duly delivered without any problems in February 2010. Gadgco Ltd advertised them to retailers, and had already entered some contracts when it received a letter arrived from UK Government solicitors stating that the items were the subject of unpaid export duties and sales should cease immediately. Gadgco Ltd notified Rippa plc of this, and stated that it was therefore avoiding the contract with Rippa. In reply, Rippa plc stated that it had obtained legal advice that export duty was not payable, and it was disputing the UK government claim, and there was no basis for avoiding the contract. Gadgco re-iterated that it was avoiding the contract, and claimed the total amount it had paid under the letter of credit plus losses suffered on cancelling contracts with retailers. If the account was not paid within 30 days, the matter would be submitted to arbitration. The items meanwhile were available to Rippa in its warehouse. In reply Rippa Ltd refused to pay the account or to arrange for return of the goods and claimed that the arbitration clause was not part of the contract. Do you believe that there is an evil in America? Whenever I see images of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales, Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Katherine Harris and other minions of, or apologists for, the corrupt, inept, mendacious and venal Bush dictatorship, I am immediately reminded of this line from John Carpenter’s classic horror movie Halloween: “What is living behind [their] eyes is purely and simply evil.” Yet in America there is a great reluctance to use the term “evil” when describing the cabal of thugs, hypocrites and war criminals who stole the White House in 2000 and 2004. Although singer/activist Harry Belafonte courageously proclaimed a few years ago that the Bush dictatorship was “possessed of evil,” it wasn’t until recently that others in positions of prominence began to acknowledge the veracity of Belafonte’s statement. A recent episode of the animated comedy Family Guy, for example, showed cartoon portraits of an inanely grinning Bush shaking hands with Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden and, ultimately, the “Super Devil” (a being more evil than Satan). Prior to this, most of the statements concerning the inherent evil of the Bush dictatorship came from foreign sources: Russian President Vladimir Putin indirectly suggested that Bush’s foreign policy was analogous to Hitler’s Third Reich; Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez compared Bush to Satan; and the Mayan Indians felt compelled to “spiritually cleanse” a sacred site after Bush visited it earlier this year. But even though more Americans feel emboldened to criticize the Bush dictatorship, there is still a reluctance to acknowledge and denounce its evil. This reluctance often affects some of the dictatorship’s most outspoken critics: Former American President, and Nobel Laureate, Jimmy Carter recently retreated from his clearly accurate assertion that the Bush dictatorship has been the worst administration in United States history, claiming his words were “careless or misinterpreted.” And syndicated columnist Gwynne Dyer rejected the notion that Bush and/or his minions possessed the evil required to orchestrate the attacks of 9/11, even stressing that Dick Cheney was morally incapable of sanctioning the murders of over three thousand Americans simply to justify the illegal invasion of Iraq. I disagree. While the Bush dictatorship is the domicile for many monsters cloaked in human attire, Cheney is arguably the monster most likely to promote mass murder for the sake of war profiteering. His very character endorses this reality. He possesses the attributes of many mass murderers—a sadist who often kills defenseless animals in “caged hunts” (where they have no means of escape), and a coward who, during the Vietnam war, obtained deferment after deferment to avoid facing an adversary capable of shooting back, only to become a vociferous warmonger once the prospect of being drafted into military service no longer confronted him. But even if one does not subscribe to the theory that character presages deeds, the Bush dictatorship still cannot be absolved from culpability in the 9/11 attacks. In the legal realm, crimes can be committed through act or omission. It is undisputed that Bush, shortly after his coup of 2000, planned to invade Iraq. It is also undisputed that several warnings about the possibility of airline hijackings, some provided by foreign governments, were forwarded to the Bush dictatorship. What most likely occurred was that Bush and his minions were aware of the planned attacks, but underestimated their magnitude, believing any hijacking would be of the “traditional” variety: An American aircraft would be forced to fly to an unplanned destination, followed by a lengthy standoff between the hijackers and the Bush dictatorship. Allowing a hijacking to occur would give Bush the opportunity to blame Iraq, and incite the American media and public into a jingoistic frenzy. So the question becomes, “Why are Americans so willing to acknowledge the presence of evil when it comes to foreign governments, but so unwilling to acknowledge the presence of evil within their own government?” One explanation may be the “arrogance syndrome.” Americans want to believe they are somehow more “civilized,” and therefore less gullible, than other nations of the world. Unfortunately this belief simply makes them more susceptible to being led into unjust and illegal wars. Also, since many Americans possess short-term memories as selective as the one possessed by Alberto Gonzales (America’s corrupt attorney-general, who recently answered “I cannot recall” over seventy times during his testimony before Congress), they can be duped into supporting such wars time and again. Although most corporate-controlled media now refer to the illegal invasion of Iraq as an “unpopular war,” just a few years ago these same media were salivating at the ratings and profit potential this war would bring. Reporters and entertainers who criticized, or even questioned, the motives for war or other policies of George W. Bush were fired from their jobs and oftentimes blacklisted. Pro-war rallies drew record numbers of people, and these rallies frequently treated war criminals like Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld as deities. Another reason why evil is rarely acknowledged in America is simply because too many powerful people profit from it. Sadly, this has been the case throughout history. A recent movie, Amazing Grace, recounted how British politician and abolitionist William Wilberforce often invoked the tenets of Christianity during his campaign against the slave trade in the early 1800s. This compelled many so-called Christians to embrace the film as a paradigm of how good can triumph over evil. Forgotten in this zeal, however, is the sad reality that many Americans used (and in the case of racism continue to use) the Christian faith to justify bigotry and slavery. American abolitionist Frederick Douglass, in his book The Life of an American Slave, describes how a preacher/slaveholder often justified the whipping of his slaves by stating, “He who honors his master must wear his stripes.” Today it is America’s military-industrial complex that profits from economic slavery and the exploitation of the poor and middle-class, who fight and die in wars waged by the rich and powerful. And as long as those in power can reward their cronies with lucrative rebuilding contracts, as long as war can be used to divert attention from government criminality and corruption (as demonstrated by the father of George W. Bush, who invaded Panama to divert attention from the “Savings and Loan” scandal that cost taxpayers billions of dollars), and as long as war can be used to increase the ratings and profit potential of the corrupt corporate-controlled media there will be little incentive to denounce evil in America. A third reason for the failure of Americans to acknowledge evil in their own country is the uncanny ability of human beings to rationalize anything. When I was in law practice, I often noticed that there was little difference between “law breakers” and “law makers.” Both demonstrated an enormous capacity to rationalize their actions, no matter how much those actions defied morality or commonsense. The incentive to rationalize is particularly prominent in today’s “sound bite” culture. Corporate-controlled media incessantly select the most “controversial” statements for repeated airplay, often taking them out of context. Meanwhile complex topics, if they are covered at all, are covered only superficially; therefore laypeople often do not have the political or historical background necessary to develop well-informed viewpoints, and thus erect their opinions on tenuous foundations that are frequently devoid of facts. For example, a recent editorial on the CNN website argued that Americans would be remiss if they failed to honestly debate Texas Congressman Ron Paul’s contention that American foreign policy, particularly its proclivity to dominate or overthrow foreign governments for the sake of corporate profits, played a role in the build-up to the 9/11 attacks. But it is unlikely that such a debate will ever transpire, particularly since former New York Mayor turned presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani has already demonstrated that he will continue to exploit the emotions surrounding 9/11 for his own self-aggrandizement, just as he has opportunistically done in the past. The final explanation for why the existence of evil in America is often ignored is because the terms “good and evil” often take one into the realm of religion. When science and logic fails, faith often prevails. But faith can be a positive force or negative force. Since it cannot be disproved, a person does not require logic or science to acquire faith. But without such logic or science, people can often be deceived into believing concepts that have no factual basis at all. Hating another person because of his/her skin color, for example, is as illogical as hating one flower because it’s red and loving another because it’s yellow, particularly since neither possessed the ability to choose what color it would be. Yet racism is alive and well in America. This is why charlatans often exploit the faith of others. If a situation has a positive outcome, they can claim it was because of the “strength of their faith,” and if a situation has a negative outcome, they can claim it was because their followers “didn’t believe deeply enough.” It was this type of faith that made many Americans embrace the lies of the Bush dictatorship, naively believing that Iraq possessed “weapons of mass destruction,” that Saddam Hussein was involved in the 9/11 attacks, and that war against Iraq would only be used as “a last resort.” This exploitation of faith has been the modus operandi of the Bush dictatorship and its apologists—strategically designed to conceal their ineptitude, arrogance, dishonesty and evil. It has been so effective that many so-called “Christian” colleges and universities have invited members and supporters of the Bush dictatorship, including Bush himself, to be guest or commencement speakers. Since I began this essay with a quotation from a movie, I will end it with one as well. In Bryan Singer’s remarkable film The Usual Suspects, a character named Verbal Kint remarks, “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” Sadly, this trick will continue to be effective as long as Americans refuse to acknowledge that their nation is being controlled by people who are “purely and simply evil.”

Iraq is preparing to take a step in the right direction by providing opportunities for foreign oil firms to invest in the country, thereby increasing its output and revenues: The production-sharing agreements (PSAs) would allow oil giants to sign 30-year contracts for extracting Iraqi oil. Under PSAs, the state retains legal ownership of its oil but gives a share of the profits to companies that invest in infrastructure and in operating the wells, pipelines and refineries. The newspaper [the Independent] said that under the draft law, oil companies could recoup 60 to 70 per cent of revenue until initial costs had been recovered, which compares to around 40pc usually. Along the same lines, Lt. General Graeme Lamb, Deputy Commander of Multinational Forces-Iraq, sees 2007 as the year that Iraq moves forward, and says he sees plenty of progress to base his optimism on: Let me give you an example. I was out at Hit the other day, Ramadi. The battalion commander out there, young battalion commander — actually, I suppose he's not that young; he just looks it — had been in Ramadi two years before, had done a full year's tour. As far as he was concerned, he always just seemed to be going backwards. When I saw him the other day, as far as he was concerned, they were making huge progress. Ramadi. Four months ago I don't think there was any policemen in the town. Seven hundred and ninety-one now. They were shot at from a building. There are a multitude of people on the web reporting being scammed by NetStore and also World Retail Store where they charge customer's credit cards, then the customer never receives anything and there is no way to contact them except e-mail which they ignore. The Better Business Bureau has also had multiple complaints and investigations. Most of their attempts to contact these "stores " go unreturned. Both of these stores are owned by Open Group and Open Media Party and Open Communications, with a man in Australia head of it. When you purchase, your money is sent to an Australian bank. One of the owners of the website, Michel Bowen who lives near Charlotte, NC is Senior VP of a bank and also linked to the Silicon Valley. THis same organization, Open Communications (aka Open Group) has contracts with the US government for internet security. They apparently developed lunux and unix and have changed their name and have multiple different names they go by. Also, they have expanded into Russia, where now they own the newspapers, and are looking for buyers of copper and also wanting to sell oil. What does all this mean? They also sell internet security to hundreds of international corporations such as IBM, focus on the family, HP, etc, etc, It seems too powerful. Is this fair of my employer? Hi, I have been working at my current job for a year and a half, as a general assistant, in a local supermarket, I earn minimum wage. Approx 2 months ago a new manager arrived, however he is now making every member of staff clean the public toilets and staff toilets as we cannot afford a cleaner. However we have JUST signed a contract but it does not state anything about cleaning toilets... nor does it say anything about what I am actually supposed to do within my role. so I do not know what my rights are, I have looked at the government website however it just states that the employer should provide clean toilets for the staff, but does not say anything about if the staff should actually have to clean them. Please help me I do not know if I should speak up because, I feel that this is not right and its taking the piss! and plus i swear that cleaners are on much higher then minimum wage, so shouldnt I at least get paid a bit more? But then Allan Leighton, chairman of the Royal Mail and one of Britain's best connected businessmen, likes to style himself as a man of the people with a dash of Mr Motivator thrown in. Urging his 167,000 workforce not to embark on Britain's first national post strike in more than a decade, the 54-year-old told them: 'You know me. I don't do bullshit.' The intention was to warn his employees, famously prone to wildcat action, against launching a series of strikes. It failed. Leighton built his career on motivating thousands of disgruntled supermarket employees he called 'colleagues'. Together they turned Asda from a backwater into a powerhouse supermarket. But life has not gone so smoothly since. Leighton chaired a number of companies that have faced problems. But none like Royal Mail. Strike action received overwhelming backing throughout the network three weeks ago. It began 10 days ago. Last week, the Communication Workers Union extended action by another two weeks, paralysing businesses and inconveniencing the public. Talks between the parties have just started at Acas, the arbitration service. At stake is Leighton's personal reputation; but more important is the future of an institution that is part of the fabric of British society. As it teeters under the weight of a £6bn pension shortfall and haemorrhages lucrative business customers - last month Amazon, the internet business, pulled its parcel contract - questions are now being asked whether the Royal Mail will, in future, be capable of fulfilling its obligation to guarantee deliveries to every household in Britain. Then there is the future of the post office network itself. Next year the government wants Royal Mail group to close 2,500 underperforming post offices in a move that will spark furious protests from communities and could seriously damage the government. Before that, Leighton and his chief executive, Adam Crozier, the former Football Association boss, have to resolve a dispute that shows every sign of escalating into a war of attrition. For the CWU though, this dispute is not just about a below-inflation 2.5 per cent pay deal plus a possible £800 bonus for hitting performance targets. Dave Ward, a former postman marshalling the dispute as deputy general secretary of the CWU, says it is about the philosophical direction of an organisation where he has worked since he left school in Tooting, south London, 35 years ago. Ward has seen the business used as a cash cow by repeated governments who have raided Royal Mail profits to pay for other priorities. Starved of investment, it briefly plunged into the red a few years ago, but now it is making money. Ward wants back money sucked out of the business to pay for modernisation and to enable workers on an average wage of £323 a week to get more. The message is falling on deaf ears. Leighton and Crozier say that employees at rival post firms who use modern automation systems are paid 25 per cent less and are 40 per cent more productive. The workforce take this statement as an insult. Morale is low. When the Royal Mail asks for voluntary redundancy, bosses are trampled in the rush. Faith and trust have broken down. Ward believes Leighton and Crozier accepted government-imposed competition rules that will condemn the service to commercial suicide. He wants so-called access agreements to private companies using the postal service to be rewritten. Both sides are digging in as the government buries its head in the sand, concerned not to step into the row and be seen as protectionist. Pat McFadden, enterprise minister at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform - formerly the DTI - says: 'It is really for the company and the union to resolve this dispute. We are in touch with both sides but it is for them to sit down together and reach a resolution. We are not setting any kind of timetable.' If the workers had shares in the business they would receive yearly bonuses based on profit. Industrial relations would be improved at a stroke. There was one problem: the government, the Royal Mail's only shareholder, didn't buy the idea. More blows followed. The postal regulator has rejected his request for zonal pricing, which would have seen letters posted to and from London charged at different rates to the rest of the country. And Europe is insisting the Royal Mail pays VAT, in a move that could destroy its finances. Royal Mail has postponed the publication of its accounts, due in May. The suspicion is that there is embarrassment at the scale of bonuses Leighton and Crozier will scoop. The strange thing is that the combatants in the current dispute appear to respect each other. Any Coast Guard recruiters here? There's not nearly as many CG recruiters in my area as army,usn, usmc and usaf. I previously joined the Marines on an open contract, shipped to boot camp, they caught me with the good cop/bad cop routine about lying to my recruiter about a wrist fracture. I learned later i never should of opened my mouth. Well when given a medical evaluation they diagnosed me with symptomatic scoliosis, was told i would need to be out of training for at least 6 months. and need to see a civilian doctor for a waiver for scoliosis if the degree of the arch was less than 12 % It has been six months, and i am sure i can get a doctor to waiver me, howver i am thinking instead of joining the coast guard. It seems to more match my life style. Last month the Swiss foreign minister visited Iran and, together with President Ahmadinejad, attended the signing of a multi-billion euro contract for Iran to supply Switzerland with large amounts of natural gas over the next 25 years. Im a full time worker going to part time...? Ok so im trying to make head and tails of all this. I was working 150 hours per month (my contract) and i am cutting it down to 112 hours per month. unpaid wages, can i claim back? What are my chances of winning in small claims court? Me and my buddy completed an album back in October of 2008. As soon as we completed it, we filed a copyright application soon after and sent it to the US government for verification through LegalZoom.com. I volunteered to pay the total price of $149. My buddy said he would pay me back $75. Then in February, we filled out an application to publish the album through Disc Makers. We ordered 1000 CDs and the total price came out to $1545.18. Once again, I volunteered to pay the total price. He said he would pay me back half of what I spent on the albums. Now towards the end of April, we got into an argument. We didn't speak afterwards. It's a complicated relationship, too many details to explain. I turned around and said that I wanted the money that I spent on the albums and the copyright. He turned around and said that by giving me 60 CDs out of the 1000 total, that was $600 in value. Does that makes sense? That just sounds stupid to me. More than a quarter of senators and congressmen have invested at least $196 million of their own money in companies doing business with the Department of Defense (DoD) that profit from the death and destruction in Iraq. According to the latest reports, 151 members of Congress invested close to a quarter-billion in companies that received defense contracts of at least $5 million in 2006. These companies got more than $275.6 billion from the government in 2006, or $755 million per day, according to FedSpending.org, a website of the watchdog group OMBWatch. Congressmen gave themselves a loophole so they only have to report their assets in broad ranges. Thus, they can be off as much as 160 percent. (Try giving the IRS an estimate like that.) In 2004, the first full year after the present Iraq war began, Republican and Democratic lawmakers�both hawks and doves�invested between $74.9 million and $161.3 million in companies under contract with the DoD. In 2006 Democrats had at least $3.7 million invested in the defense sector alone, compared to the Republicans� �only� $577,500. Should we privatize the military? We have all seen War Inc. The Military is already used to fight wars for the private sector. Since the government has never been able to balance a budget anyways, should we just take that military budget and give it to various corporations that want to fund and invest in the military? I know that this sounds kind of out there, but seriously...it appears that they can't do anything right. I am not saying that businesses are operated perfectly but how often does Microsoft post all of their secret locations and plans on their website by mistake? Additionally, this would create competetion and they would want to do a good job in order to keep their contract with the US gov't. Think about it...
