Bid Government Auctions Knowledge Base

How far above the minimum bid do cars usually sell for at public or government auctions.? Also, what sort of fees and closing costs can I expect? I'm looking at a 1997 Nissan 200SX with fairly low miles, less than 100,000 and the minimum bid is $2,000. I have $2,800 but I don't know if that will be enough. I have no experience with these auctions. Also, if you bid, are you obligated to buy?
government auction on real property-has anyone ever bid on the houses that the US govt puts up for auction? I saw a house near by that will be auctioned-it will have 2 previews on Sundays before the sale- what is the actual process? Will there be a minimum starting amount? Can we prebid before the auction or is it possible that it might be sold by another means other than the auction? What has been your experience?
I need $20,000 for a deposit at government Home auctions. How can I raise the money? I figured out how to finance the property once my bid was accepted and the mortgage payments will be paid for at least a year or less. Depending on how soon i can sell it for profit. I just need the $20,000 to start.
Are cars bought through auctions typically cheaper? Why is a down payment required before you bid on a car? There's a government bid going on and i want to know if i can save money on a car by purchasing it through this bid. The problem is that it requires a 10,000 dollar deposite.
US government foreclosure auction- just pay off the default balance and no auction process? There is a house up for formal auction through the US marshals office next Friday. The government's starting bid is $33,556 on this house. Would an interested buyer be allowed to just pay this $33,556 balance off to the government instead of going through the whole auction process? It just makes sense for the interested buyer to buy the house if all the government wants is the $33,556.
Do you have to pay a "sales tax" when you win a $4.6 billion government auction? With all the hoopla about the FCC/US government auctioning off the 700mhz band, I wondered if the winner will have to pay a sales tax on top of such a sale. Not that I'm planning on putting a bid in with my extra change under my couch ;) I assume not right?
Anyone know about the Government Auction? I am planning on buying a car this year, I was exploring the net and I found a government auction that has reposes cars, trucks, SUV, boats, homes and property, all of these things were taken from people by the police, IRS etc, it ask for you to join for $29.95 a year, do anyone know about the government auction and is it good. Its said to sell cars for 90% of retail price and bids starts as low as $100.00
Government Auctioned Cars? Yeah, I'm just 16 and I'm looking to buy a car. I heard from my dad that his ex-girlfriend used to buy cars from government auctions, dirt cheap. I've got about $1000 and my dad would be willing to spend the weekend on this type of thing, driving there, and driving the car back and all. How realistic would this be, should i even consider it? (btw how much more do cars actually go for compared to the starting bid?)
Do the Democrat debates remind you of an auction? I bid one billion for such and such government program. I bid two billion and so on. And you know it is your money they are trying to buy votes with.
Why r the European Oil Corporations pushing to drill in Alaska when they only used 33% of their lease land? The federal government received more than $5.9 million through a competitive auction on oil and gas leases in the Ouachita National Forest and in two other states. Gary A. Monroe of Fort Smith paid $343,971 for a 1,423.44-acre parcel in Johnson County. Does this mean the Iraq War will end now? Has the mission finally been accomplished? Big Oil Back To Iraq? http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/06/24/business/econwatch/entry5109976.shtml Iraq finally surrenders its oil sovereignty to trans-national corporations. The article: "Thirty five companies are qualified to bid on foreign oil contracts with Iraq starting next week, the Wall Street Journal reports. The government decided to auction off foreign oil contracts in an attempt to boost up its war torn economy. The auction is taking place for the first time since Iraq nationalized its oil industry more than 30 years ago. Among top potential bidders are Exxon Mobil Corp., Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Italy's Eni SpA, Russia's Lukoil and China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. If all goes according to plan, the new contracts with foreign companies will help Iraq to stabilize six developed fields which have suffered because of the war. Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani has expressed his commitment to staying on the deal despite lawmakers' concerns of legality of the contracts - believed by the parliament to have highly favorable terms for the foreign companies. According to Wall Street Journal, the oil deal could be key to stablizing Iraq's economy and to its proposed plans to boost oil output from the current 2.4 million barrels a day to 4 million. The companies themselves, are also reported as being eager to receive the contracts due to Iraq's relativly unexplored reservoirs, with some considering the nation as the most important opening of petrolium fields in years. Only about 20 out of the known 80 oil fields have been developed. Al-Shahristani has stated that the companies with the lowest rates and highest potential profit for Iraq will receive the contracts, according to the article. Approximately 120 companies were interested in bidding. The contracts will last 20 years and the winning companies will begin work in November."

eBaying the right to prevent an Abortion? I was thinking to myself about absurd eBay auctions...I remember reading about a girl who auctioned her virginity on the site, as I recall an Australian businessman paid millions of dollard to take her v-card. I had an idea for another such auction, (no, I'm not in this position, and will not actually be doing it): Say you were a single, pregnant, teenage girl with no parents to lean on, who didn't want to have the baby and have to live in poverty on government assistance. You feel that your best option is to have an abortion, not wanting the child to grow up with nothing. Could you hold an auction on eBay, allowing people to bid on the opportunity to allow you to keep your child versus aborting it? The winning bidder, (with some minimum dollar amount set of course), would buy the right for your child to live. In the process you could/would make enough money to buy a proper home, upbringing, and education for the child. Were you in this destitute position would you consider doing this? Would it work? Would it be legal? How much would you pay as the bidder? Thanks! So eBay would delete it... Then you could mail them the fetus along with an explanation of how they're responsible for it's untimely demise, it would be a PR nightmare... Now seriously, please stick to actually answering my question???

Since the US - Russian conflict is a personal issue for Cheney should Cheney & Putin have a boxing showdown? Amoco — later taken over by British Petroleum — was an early partner with Khodorkovsky (Yukos CEO) in a highly prospective Siberian oil field Priobskoye. Amoco spent $300 million developing the oil field Khodorkovsky has been reported to be negotiating with ExxonMobil and ChevronTexaco about them taking a large stake in Yukos. Khodorkovsky was arrested on tax fraud Yukos is being auction of at a starting bid of $8.6 billions but back taxes to the Russian government is $24 billion to the buyers = keeping Cheney & Exxon out of the bid. Now, "...The dismantling of Russian oil giant Yukos Financial analysts in Moscow fear that the government is attempting to dismantle Yukos and create one large oil and gas giant virtually controlled by the Kremlin...." Should Americans pay for this?
