What exactly are federal contracts and how do people make money from there? I am registering for my business and leaning more about it and within all the websites writing it mentions something about bidding on federal contracts and things of that nature. Obviously, I know little, so if one could simply explain what this is and how it relates to a business I would want to do of importing goods and selling them in the US? Sorry..'from them'
Can a non-profit seek federal contracts as a government contractor? I want interested in knowing whether a non-profit could provide services to the government as a federal contractor or subcontract with a prim contractor? I know that the purpose of being a non-profit is to utilize the "profit" to support the actual business and flow back into the community.
What will a certificate in Federal Contract Managment get me in life? I plan on also getting an AA in something (not sure, probably Finance, economics or political science). But I plan on joining the Navy to be in the submarine electronics field (the field im getting my AA in is something im wanting to do after the navy (I would like to be in 20 years and then try to get a job in the civilian sector) Im asking this as if I had the certificate alone and I wasnt in the Navy (as if i never joined)
Obama has done some underhanded things since becoming president. One is no federal contracts for non Union? workers via executive order. Another is taking the census away from the department of commerce, the way things are going with him it's to perform a cheated census which will cheat for democrats benefit. There is the card check thing he is for which will allow Unions to intimidate those who don't pro Union. I know there are some other highly dishonest moves, I mean actual manipulation to give democrats an advantage, what can you add? Only what Obama has ALREADY DONE. Democrats out there, it's what he has done, and you know if Bush did anything like these things you would have been howling. Republicans, no forecasts please, only what has been done or attempted like this porkulus package that pays off democrat supporters in a way that is probably technically illegal. It's worse than anything Blago tried anyway. I'm an independent, and I actually thought of voting Obama for a while because I don't like McCain at all, but I just didn't vote in stead because Obama showed me something in the lies he was telling. I wish more of us had learned without having to be run over by the Obama train, to finally get it. Piggy Pie, YES, that is one more thing. I don't think the whole Gitmo thing was honest for an instant. Now his dishonest campaigning has us in a stupid pickle, because he has to back it up. I agree DC Maximus, there could be a lot of court challenges. The thing about democrats is that any democrat judge will probably support the democrat side, the only law most of them understand is party loyalty. Kinkade0003 true enough, there is a whole slew of underhanded crap in that bill, and anyone who votes for it should be over with any voters who's not a lunatic level democrat. Not a regular democrat with a brain, but the Moveon.nutbars. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/02/09/gop-sounds-alarm-obama-decision-census-white-house/ http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2009/02/obama_sends_lab.html http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/01/acorn_eligible_for_billions_fr.html
How to be a Contracting Officer? I would like to seek a contracting job with the federal government. However, I need to know the path of doing it. What degree do I need to pursue? Business degree, but what specific degree? I am a retired enlisted military and have an AA in business management and an AA in IT. Are on-line courses acceptable to be a contracting officer?
What is the Federal statute regarding payment of internet contracts? Hi, I've been working for a court reporting firm who is not local to me, however, payment for this work has not been made; and now there is no response to email asking when I can expect payment. There is supposedly a new law that requires companies who contract over the net to abide by contract payment terms or be in violation of this Federal statute. Does anyone know what the name of the new Federal statute is? Thanks.
Would you sign the following contract with the federal/state government? I agree that if the federal and state government do not take any money out of my paycheck for welfare, food stamps, WIC, social security, medicare, and medicaid for me or anyone else, I will never, ever ask the government for help if I become poor or sick. I will rely on family, friends, and charity if I cannot support myself.
What does the word "Federal" really mean? Sorry that it was entered twice---do not have space to give you the research you can do for yourself----Common sense tells you that if your payment of income tax check is deposited somewhere other than to the account of the United States of America Treasury, something is wrong. Look at the endorsement on the back of same. Federal Civil Servants living and working in Japan? I am a Federal Civil Servant Contract Specialist thinking about working a 2-3 year tour in Japan. My husband and I were stationed in Japan, but years ago. I'd like to hear opinions from people who have lived at the various bases there, recently if possible. Responses from military folks are welcome, but I especially want feedback from fellow civil servants as to what kind of family housing is available and how you like living and working on that base. Thanks.
Is there a 24 month (2 year) Federal law on completion of a new home? I heard from many people that a builder must complete a newly constructed home within 24 months of the purchaser signing the contract. If the developer does not complete it; the purchaser is entitled to getting their deposit back. I heard this is a Federal law and does not have to be on the contract. Can someone confirm that this is true?
Help on estimated tax payments for 2008 for contracting job? I am going to be making quarterly estimated tax payments for 2008, but it seems like the amount i would be paying is much less then what i would end up paying at end of year. Does this estimated payment not include Medicare withholdings? or other withholdings besdies the Federal and State?
How do you change a complaint filed in a New York State Civil Court and make it fileable in a Federal Court? I sued my former employer and raised some Constitutional issues. My employer made a "notice of removal" and had the case moved from New York State Court to Federal Court (US District Court). What do I have to do to the complaint to file it in Federal Court. I have multiple causes of action including a Section 1983 action, breach of contract, tortious interference and I am asking for specific performance of my contract. PLease help
can you sue the federal government for breach of an employment contract? I have a signed offer letter for employment and 1 week before I was supposed to report across the country for duty and after I had already purchased airfare and hotel accomodations,I recived a call that my file needed to be vetted and now its been 8 months and still no answer and my credit has become terrible which will preclude me from taking the position once vetting is done.
MOS 51C (Contracting) ??? I'm a federal employee considering joining the Army reserves and I'm intersted in MOS 51C (contracting). I have a bachelor's degree and experience in federal contracting and I'm wondering if I would be able to get into this MOS as an NCO if I joined the reserves.
Reprisals at Federal employment, regulatory agencies (Federal) will not stopping it. Where to go next? I have been subjected to numerous Reprisals at my Federal employment for my filing a Workmens Compensation/Family Medical Leave Act claims. None of the Federal regulatory agencies will assist in stopping these actions that violate the Federal Employee Labor Manual (ELM), our collective bargaining agreement (aka "contract"), and several Federal Laws (some with "criminal punishment" possible). Where to go next for help?
As a small business, how can I have the opportunity to compete with larger companies on Federal projects? I manage a small business in Wisconsin. With all of the federal stimulus money that is going into construction projects across the state, I was wondering if there was some certification process that can help us get an edge in bidding for contracts. I have read that the Federal government needs to have 23% of its contracts go to small business. We are not minority or women owned, just small. Are there any programs that we can get certified for the help us gain an edge?
Should the ACCC investigate the Australian Federal Governments takeover of a regional hospital? The Federal Government has taken the unprecedented step of offering support for an individual Regional Hospital in a critical marginal election. We may not be as qualified as the Federal Treasurer, and his election campaign staff, but we can smell abuse of public funds as well as any reasonable man. It would take $200 mil AUD to provide decent housing, a job, education and healthcare for every indigenous man, woman and child in the Northern Territory, and the top end of Australia. Yet the government has opted to spend $600 mil on providing a contract for solar hot water heaters to manufacturing companies so that our well-fed children have hot water to wash their hands with after a piss. And a further $600 mil will be spent rennovating the Sydney Opera House. If that represents the epogy of Liberal Parth wisdom during a pre-election campaign, then perhaps it would be prudent to look for more down-to-earth leaders for our nation.
How to make a home offer, but not be locked in on interest rates before federal reserve meeting? I (among many others) anticipate an interest rate cut at the next Federal Reserve meeting in two weeks. I'm interested in a house and want to make an offer, but I'm hesitant to do so because I don't want to be locked in before a rate cut for obvious reasons. Could I put a statement in the Real Estate contract addendum such as "Seller will accept pre-approved buyer's offer, but will not require financial arrangements until September 20,2007."? How long after a rate cut will it take for lenders to lower their rates? Advice?
What role did the federal and state governments play in the creation of monopolies? a. Despite the efforts of state and federal legislators distribute 160-acre plots to families, corporations managed to create charters for themselves. b. State and federal legislators received favors (money and stock) for granting exclusive charters and distributing free land to companies like the railroads. c. State and federal legislators created a special mechanism for supporting corporate monopoly in the immediate pre-Civil War years that facilitated economic development. d. Zinn notes that in an unplanned and economically chaotic world, congress and the president accepted no-bid contracts from companies to which they had close personal and professional ties
Better to sue for fraud in state or federal court? Are there advantages/disadvantages to suing someone in state versus federal court (diversity and amount in controversy satisfied) for contract breach and/or fraud? Any effects on collecting from a judgment? Does one take much longer than the other? All advice greatly appreciated.
Memorandum of Law for Federal Court? I am the pro se Plaintiff in a Breach of Contract, Unjust Enrichment lawsuit that I have filed in federal court. The contract was signed between an Ohio domiciled party and a Florida domiciled party. My question is this: When I am preparing a Memorandum of Law for the Federal Court (Florida, Northern district), can I cite relevant cases from all 50 states or just from Florida and Ohio? I prefer than an attorney to answer this question. Thank you.
The US Federal Government contracted the Haliburton Corp to build Concentration Camps in the USA. WHY? Why are they building concentration camps in the USA? Who is going to be put in these countless concentration camps across America that the Federal Government is using our tax dollars to build? Does anyone know? And it is a verifiable FACT that they are being built. So instead of deny, please just try to explain WHY OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS are building CONCENTRATION CAMPS? I wrote a letter to my Senator asking him about the Concentration Camps and who these facilities are supposed to house. I typically receive a response when I write to my Senator. I have heard nothing back from him on this topic. I am seriously concerned. And you should be too. And this has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton, per say, this has something to do with mass population control/slave labor. I think????
Can I sue a state or state actor in federal court if I filed the action in state court but was then removed? I sued: 1) my former employer, 2) the state of new york and 3) individuals who were acting on behalf of the state. My employer said I had raised some Constitutional issues. My employer made a "notice of removal" and had the case moved from New York State Court to Federal Court (US District Court). I have multiple causes of action including a Section 1983 action, breach of contract, tortious interference and I am asking for specific performance of my contract. The 11th ammedment bars suits brought against the state or state actors in Federal Court, unless the state gives its consent. Therefore, my question is this, if one of the defendents (not the state defendents) makes a "notice of removal" into federal court, then have the state defendents also de facto agreed to having the case heard in federal court?
Federal Contractors? I'm doing some research on federal contractors. If a Federal contract is awarded to a private company is that contract & it's employees held to Federal Standards of the LAW? In other words if you whistleblow on a private federal contractor are you protected under the law even though it's a private entity? Do you know of any court findings that have ruled this? It is a Job Corps Contractor awarded by the Department of Labor Job Corps Division. There was gross waste of funds, services etc... and the private contractor was reported. Can you hold this company to whistle blowing laws?
Holiday Pay for Employees of Federal Government Contractors? I am employed by a company that has a service contract with a US government agency. I do understand that in the private sector in general, to offer or not to offer holiday pay is completely up to the employer; is not mandated by law. But what about employment under a government contract? Is the McNamara-O'hara Service Contract Act applicable here? Can you point me to any authoritative resources one way or the other?
How do I become a Background Investigator for the Federal Government? I was offered a position with USIS as a Background Investigator. I was granted a Top Secret Clearance which took about a year to achieve. Then, on my last interview, I thought everything went well, but to find out I was not given the position. I want the position to be full-time, not a contract position that does not give any benefits. If you have any information about where I can look I would greatly appreciate it. I have a college degree and have been in the workforce for about 3 years now. I am eager to advance my career. It is just a shame when you find something you want to do, but get turned down for it and can't even get a hint on what to do. Thanks for your information.
Why do you think so many people walk and look so awkward in business attire? Today I took my lunch break as usual but t his time I decided to eat at the mall in the food court. I work for the corporate office of a federal contracting company as well as all the surrounding business are as well and workers. It seemed as though for all of us to have to work in such professional atmospheres we would be accustomed to wearing dressy shoes (men), heels (ladies), slacks (unisex), blouses (ladies), dress shirts (men), suits (unisex), and act. Instead I noticed that a lot of the people either looked like they couldn't walk in the heels, was stiff as a board, couldn't maneuver in their suits, was either under dressed, or not very well groomed. I must admit although I always dress professionally I am always very clumsy in my heels (unbalanced), and tend to make a mess or stain my clothes? Why is this?
