Posco raises price of steel products to boost earnings

will result in higher costs for the shipbuilders automakers and builders Although raw material costs for steel have risen in the past year Posco has avoided increasing its prices since last July in line with the government s anti inflation policy But Posco suffered weak earnings in the fourth quarter of 2010 which led to its decision to increase prices now Raw material prices such as iron ore jumped from about $125 per ton in January 2010 to $182 per ton this month and since we haven t changed the prices since July 2010 we can no longer accept these conditions said a Posco official Along
